NFL Star Patrick Mahomes Urges NBA To Bring Raptors To Kansas City

2 Min Read

The Toronto Raptors have plenty of things to figure out before the next NBA season. Not only do they have to try to work things out with their free agents but they also have to define where they’re going to play next campaign. Currently, travel from the U.S. into Canada is forbidden due to the COVID-19 situation, which will make things impossible for American teams to go to Canada and vice versa.

That said, the Raptors were linked with a move to Louisville, Kentucky to play the next campaign. Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports reported that Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center was considered a possible arena to host the Raptors’ game but another reported claimed that discussions between the Raptors and KC Yum! Center officials didn’t come to fruition because of the players’ feelings regarding Taylor’s killing and “the social unrest that followed.”

It was also reported that the Raptors were still hopeful to play in Canada next season, but that’s still unlikely at this point. That’s when current SuperBowl MVP Pat Mahomes made an appearance and dropped a little idea to the league and the Canadian franchise. Mahomes urged the league to bring the Raptors to Kansas City, the city where he plays with the Chiefs, one of the best teams in the NFL.

“Bring them to KC,” he wrote on Twitter.

It’s not clear what parameters the league or the organization will use to make this decision but Kansas doesn’t have a professional basketball team and it will be good for them to see how an NBA team works with the fans. However, it doesn’t seem like they have an arena like the Yum Center and that could hurt any plans they might or might not have to host the Raptors.

Still, Mahomes dropped an interesting idea trying to make things easier for the NBA. It’s still unclear what the Raptors are going to do from now on.
