Nikola Jokic is on the path to greatness in the NBA and will cement his status as an all-time legend if he can lead the Denver Nuggets to a championship this season.

After Game 1 of Lakers vs. Nuggets in the Conference Finals, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope compared Jokic to LeBron James by saying the only difference is that LeBron jumps higher. The Serbian center was really happy to be compared to LeBron.

“That’s really offensive. To be compared to one of the best ever, or the best ever, I think is really cool. But I don’t know, we don’t have similar games. He’s more attacking. Maybe we have a similar global game, if that makes any sense. We impact the game in different ways and he’s a really good player.”

The only similarity between LeBron James and Nikola Jokic is their ability to read the game and create opportunities for everyone on the court. They are also extremely perceptive of what happens on the court, so KCP’s comments could be referring to how they both can study the game and apply what needs to be done on the court to maximize winning.

A Championship Run For Nikola Jokic?

The Denver Nuggets have never even made an NBA Finals, let alone win one. They have been stopped by the Lakers in the Conference Finals thrice before, with the latest coming in 2020 in another battle between LeBron and Anthony Davis against Jokic.

After all the doubts raised over Jokic’s ability to be a winning player in the postseason, he is shutting his critics up with one dominant triple-double after the other. If he can continue the form we’ve seen him have in the playoffs, the Nuggets could be title favorites depending on who comes out of the Eastern Conference.
