The Los Angeles Lakers ended up cancelling a press conference on Tuesday with Rob Pelinka and Darvin Ham speaking to the media in abrupt fashion, reigniting speculation over a possible trade on the Lakers roster prior to the start of training camp.

The Lakers will have to speak to the media on Monday during media day, so many are expecting them to make a move before then to explain why yesterday’s press conference was cancelled. Any trade with the Lakers usually relates to Russell Westbrook and his wife may have given fans to chew on something.

The cancelled press conference led to Westbrook trade rumors anyway, but Nina posted a story on her Instagram that has led to even more intrigue. She compares the price of a water bottle in different places of regular life, pointing to it’s worth being different in the wrong situation. Many have started linking this to Russ, whose value is at the lowest point it’s ever been in his career.

Is Nina Westbrook Letting Out Her Frustrations After A Summer Of Rumors?

Nina’s IG story might not be an attack on the Lakers organization for the attempts at trading Russ and making him the scapegoat of their failed 2021-22 season but a commentary on the fans that claim Westbrook is not a starting caliber PG in the NBA anymore.

Russ on a team that didn’t have LeBron James could be worked into the lineup, but the similarities in the offensive style between Russ and LBJ make them a clunky fit on the Lakers roster.

Considering the numbers Russ puts up, he may be a great option on a different team in the league at the right price and in the right role. However, he hasn’t shown the signs of accepting a reduced role so far in his Lakers tenure. If he can prove his worth in the way he and Nina believe he can, the Lakers could have a bounce back season.
