The Portland Trail Blazers had one major goal for 2021 free agency: bring back Norman Powell.
The 6-year veteran, who Portland acquired from the Raptors in a trade-deadline deal, was a huge help to the franchise during the second half of the season, averaging 17 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game on 47.7% shooting.
In spite of disbelief that he’d return to Portland, The Athletic’s Shams Charania recently broke the news that he’s inked up for five more years.
Free agent G Norman Powell has agreed to a five-year, $90M deal to return to the Portland Trail Blazers, his agent Thaddeus Foucher of @Wasserman tells ESPN.

While there is a lot of work still to be done for the Blazers, re-signing Norm was a great step.
Not only have they locked up a quality rotational piece, but it also opens them up to trade CJ McCollum.
But we’ll see soon enough what the team decides to do now that their off-season priority has been taken care of.
