Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley have a big history together. From fighting on the court to becoming coworkers and really close friends, the two legends have spent a lot of time together, which is why some fans tend to mix their names and faces. Even though the differences are clear, some people don’t notice them.
This is what happened when a woman ran into Shaq on the street and was very excited to meet the 4x NBA champion, although she was a little confused about who she was talking to. A video from 2018 shows a lady trying to figure out who he was, repeatedly calling him ‘Charles Barkley’.
The sequence is short, but you can see this woman trying to guess Shaq’s name desperately, but the only name she could mention was Chuck’s. It wasn’t until other people got it right that the lady admitted her mistake and gave O’Neal a proper shoutout.

Shaq: “What’s my name?”
“Charles Barkley!” 😂😂😂

Lady: “Yes, you are, you are. What was his name? I know.
Shaq: “Who am I?”
Lady: “Charles Barkley. Because I know you. My daughter is a fan.”
Shaq: “What’s my name? Say it again.”
Lady: “Charles Barkley, right? …Shaquille O’Neal, yes.”
Shaq even played with the lady, asking what his name was, but she couldn’t get it. In the end, another person helped him, and she couldn’t help but laugh.
It was a funny and wholesome moment, and Shaq really enjoyed it. This is not the first time people referred to him by the wrong name. Many years ago, he was mistaken by Michael Jordan, but he played it cool and said he was better than His Airness.
Shaq is a man of the people, and he doesn’t hesitate to play with them. It was a very nice moment for everybody involved, and we hope that the lady told this story to her daughter and never forgot who Shaquille O’Neal was after that.
