- Pascal Siakam could be eligible for a $307 million supermax contract in 2024
- This is dependent on whether he can make an All-NBA Team next season
- Pascal Siakam has made All-NBA Teams in his career twice before this
Pascal Siakam’s last contract was worth $136 million over four seasons, and he could lock up double that amount on his next deal. A free agent in 2024, Pascal Siakam has the chance to sign a deal worth $307 million over five seasons if he manages to make an All-NBA Team in the 2023-24 season.
“The Raptors could offer Siakam a five-year supermax contract in free agency next summer if Siakam were to make All-NBA this coming season, which would start around $52.37 million and total about $307.23 million,” The Athletic reported.
“Players who made right around that percentage of the cap this past season: Karl-Anthony Towns, Devin Booker, Kristaps Porziņģis, Jrue Holiday, Ben Simmons, and, yes, Siakam. Those players accounted for the 19th to 25th biggest individual cap hits this past season.”
It’s hard to imagine Pascal Siakam getting a supermax from the Toronto Raptors, considering that he has been mentioned in trade rumors for a long time. Any deal they potentially give him would be much closer to the floor of $200 million that he would be eligible for, but Siakam would be within his rights to ask for the $300 million.
All of this is contingent on him making an All-NBA Team this season. It’s not an easy task to become a top 15 player in the league in any season, although Siakam has done it twice already. He made the All-NBA Second Team in 2020 and the All-NBA Third Team in 2022. His free agency promises to be a fun situation to keep an eye on next season.
Toronto Raptors Will Likely Trade Pascal Siakam As His Contract Is Expiring
The Toronto Raptors are in an odd place right now, considering that Fred VanVleet has left, and their bigger names outside of Siakam, like Scottie Barnes and Gradey Dick, are significantly younger. They could thus decide to trade Pascal Siakam, although it’ll be interesting to see who takes them up on a deal like that.
The Raptors have been linked with a potential move for Damian Lillard and also have OG Anunoby to play with in the trade market. If Siakam goes to another team in free agency next year, the money he will get will be significantly lesser than what he will be eligible for. It makes a lot more sense for the Raptors to trade him than to give him a Supermax next year.
