Kawhi Leonard and Patrick Beverley were teammates with the Los Angeles Clippers, and Pat felt good enough to claim that the next 5 years of the NBA were his. However, as most know, it didn’t quite work out, Beverley was traded to the Grizzlies and, from there to the Timberwolves. He is now a Los Angeles Laker, and while his former teammates might still have his respect, he’s not one to show that on the court.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers went at one another on Tuesday night, with the Clippers winning comfortably. LeBron James’ historic performance was not enough for the Lakers, who didn’t have enough for the Clippers. Kawhi Leonard scored 25 points on elite efficiency and at one point, became the target of an attempted fight at the hands of his former teammate, Patrick Beverley.
Patrick Beverley Tried To Square Up To Kawhi Leonard And The Clippers Star Simply Walked Away
Kawhi Leonard is lethal on the court, he is an assassin. But his personality is very subdued when he is locked in. As John Wall revealed, Leonard barely even talks trash to his opponents, preferring to just operate in silence and get the job done. Patrick Beverley is the polar opposite, so it’s no surprise that he tried to get a rise out of the quiet Kawhi. That didn’t end very well for him, though, because Leonard just calmly walked away.

Most NBA players would have said something back, at least, especially if the Shannon Sharpe-Memphis Grizzlies feud is anything to go by. Not Kawhi Leonard, though, the man is simply focused on doing his job on the court and has no time for extracurricular. His ability to tune out the noise and just focus on his game is part of what has made him one of the best players ever, and the hope is that he continues to demonstrate it.
The Clippers have moved into the 5th seed with their win over the Lakers, and Kawhi Leonard will be chomping at the bit to get another chance to claim a ring. The Lakers, meanwhile, have dropped to 13th in the standings. Beverley’s aggression and Kawhi’s calmness are both understandable, and this is likely a lesson to all the defenders watching that it’s impossible to get into Kawhi Leonard’s head.
