While the Los Angeles Clippers received hopeful news on the Kawhi Leonard situation, they didn’t get the best updates regarding Paul George. Their stellar duo is sidelined due to injuries and has different realities.

In recent days, a report suggested Kawhi Leonard could return this season, which would be a major boost for the Clippers. However, the situation isn’t that promising for George, as the team is working under the possibility of PG13 missing the entire season.

This is a big issue for the Clips, who currently rank 8th in the Western Conference with a 21-21 record. According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the team could miss George for the remainder of the season, and not everybody is convinced Leonard can return this campaign.

While the team’s initial announcement on Christmas Day stated George would be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks, the Clippers are operating under the possibility that George may not return this season, sources told B/R. And despite the momentum surrounding Kawhi Leonard’s rehab from a torn ACL, there remains a healthy dose of skepticism around the league about Leonard retaking the floor in 2021-22 as well.

George went down with a torn elbow ligament in late December, setting the alarms for his team. Even though they announced the player will be re-evaluated in three or four weeks, the situation is different now.

The Leonard-George tandem is yet to make it to the NBA Finals and if this report is to believe, this season won’t be the one where they end that streak. It’s unclear if the Clips are going to have a move trade deadline, but one imagines this situation must affect their plans.

They remain competitive, fighting for a play-in tournament spot, but these Clippers won’t probably get past the first round of the playoffs.
