Paul George Says Carmelo Anthony Is The Toughest Player He’s Ever Guarded

2 Min Read

Carmelo Anthony faced a lot of hardships on his journey back to the NBA. Following his exile from the Rockets, it took him a year to get back on the court, where he has since spent his days as a key member of the Portland Trail Blazers.

While it can be easy to forget just how special the dude was in his prime, Paul George issued a nice reminder in an appearance on “All The Smoke” podcast, in which he named Melo as the toughest player he’s ever had to guard.

“I caught him the first time he was in Denver, before he got traded. He was bully ball. Miss it, go get it. Miss it, go get it. He had me on weights. He was just strong as hell. He was the toughest cover I ever matched up with,” the Clippers star said.

While still notably missing a ring, Anthony’s career is decorated with accolades: a 10x All-Star, 6x All-NBA player, 2013 Scoring Champion, and 3x Olympic Gold Medalist.

Considering PG has faced many All-Time great scorers (like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, and James Harden) picking Melo as his toughest assignment is certainly saying a lot.

Hopefully, the former Knicks superstar will be able to fill out his resume with a Championship this upcoming season.
