The Portland Trail Blazers ended up with the No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft, and there is no doubt that this is good for them on many levels. This draft is deep, and the No. 3 pick is thus an extremely valuable asset.

Some previous reports have indicated that the Portland Trail Blazers are willing to trade the No. 3 overall pick to build a championship-level team around Damian Lillard. It seems as though the team has an interest in acquiring Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton using their pick, though it was noted that the Suns would need to give up additional pieces to make this happen.

“Multiple sources have confirmed Portland has an interest in Deandre Ayton & could be willing to discuss a deal centered around the 3rd overall pick and additional pieces. Scoot Henderson & Brandon Miller are both considered to be foundational players in this upcoming NBA Draft.”

“I was told Portland would require other pieces for a deal like this to be something they’d be willing to discuss… They’re shopping 3rd pick & have had an interest in Ayton since last summer!”

There is no doubt that this would be the foundation of a blockbuster trade, and the Suns getting the No. 3 overall pick would be absolutely crazy. They notably need to find a replacement for aging point guard Chris Paul, and perhaps Scoot Henderson is a point guard that can do that.

This regular season, Deandre Ayton averaged 18.0 PPG, 10.0 RPG, and 1.7 APG for the Phoenix Suns. He could definitely be a solid co-star for Damian Lillard if he improves his production with a bigger role, and this is clearly a situation to monitor.

Deandre Ayton Still Wants To Play For The Phoenix Suns Despite The Trade Rumors

Even though his name has been featured in multiple trade rumors as of late, it seems as though Deandre Ayton is still committed to the Phoenix Suns. Previously, he claimed that he’s still going to “play hard” for the Suns despite all the noise

“I love Phoenix, man. Honestly, I’m gonna continue to play hard for Phoenix. I’m going to keep repping Phoenix.”

It will be interesting to see if the Phoenix Suns do end up moving Deandre Ayton. Realistically. that is one of the only ways they can improve, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
