An important part of any NBA franchise is its fanbase. The energy that the fans provide can often provide an advantage for the home team, and there’s no question that passionate fans are generally better for a team than a muted fanbase.

Rudy Gobert is a player that was recently traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and there’s no question that he will provide an impact on their young team. Recently, Rudy Gobert showed his appreciation for Timberwolves fans, claiming that he knows they’re “great” because he’s “seen them talk” to him on Twitter during his time with the Utah Jazz.

This city has some great fans because I’ve seen them talk to me on Twitter for nine years… I’m excited to be playing with some very talented young players.

Twitter is definitely a social media app that a lot of NBA fans use, and it’s good to see that the Minnesota Timberwolves have a presence on that app. They were clearly noticed by Rudy Gobert, and perhaps they can turn their energy to supporting him rather than heckling him as he is now part of their squad.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will likely look to be a top-4 team in the Western Conference after making a win-now move for one of the best defensive players in the league. They are clearly going for a “twin-towers” style lineup featuring Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns, and they notably became the only team to have two players on $200 million contracts after they made the deal. While small-ball has clearly become a popular style in recent years, we’ve seen teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers have relative success in the regular season with two big men. Hopefully, this decision ends up working out for the Timberwolves and perhaps we’ll see Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert dominate next season.
