The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a bad start in the young 2021/22 NBA season. After all, the purple and gold landed in this campaign with high expectations.

However, things haven’t gone in their favor so far. The 17-time NBA champions have some serious issues to fix before they start competing as a legit championship contender. But they are confident that things will get on track in no time.

Russell Westbrook, the biggest addition to the team this summer, spoke about this situation, saying there are no reasons to freak out since the season is just starting and nobody is playing for meaningful things.

“I’m OK with adversity, honestly,” Westbrook said Saturday after the team gathered for a film session. “I never panic throughout the course of a season. Especially at the start of the season. There’s really no need to. The season is too long and nobody is winning nothing right now.

“Yes, it’s good to get off to a good start and feel good about yourself, but especially me personally, I like to make sure that I’m — as the season goes on — I’m constantly just getting better and better and better as the season prolongs. And making sure that my team and my teammates are getting better as well as we all get comfortable with each other.”

As soon as his trade was announced, people wondered how Westbrook and LeBron James would mesh on the court. Their fit is still a big question mark around the league, but the players know they can figure it out.

Meanwhile, the Lakers keep working on their chemistry by trying to shake off the bad games they’ve had so far. After Friday’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns, the Lakers are ready to turn things around.

They receive the Memphis Grizzlies at Staples Center tonight. The Grizzlies are a dangerous and inspired team that previously beat the Los Angeles Clippers. The purple and gold need to be careful with them if they want to return to winning ways.
