The competition in the Western Conference this season is at an all-time high. There are a plethora of teams that can genuinely represent the West in the 2023 NBA Finals. But so far, the Los Angeles Lakers don’t look like a team that can compete with those teams.

The Lakers may have had some great games over the last few weeks, but they are still 13-16 this season and are the 12th seed in the conference. Speaking of the Lakers’ most recent win against the Washington Wizards, it was a LeBron James brilliance and a forgettable game for Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook, 34, has embraced a new role this season that sees him coming off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers. So far, Brodie has done a great job of playing off the bench, but against the Wizards, he played like a shell of himself.

Russell Westbrook’s Brother Defends Him With A One-Word Response

Considering Westbrook had a 4-12 shooting night, he was understandably benched by head coach Darvin Ham during crunch time. NBA fans were surprisingly mad at Ham for his decision. But apart from NBA fans, Russ’ younger brother, Ray Westbrook, also seemed unhappy with Ham’s decision.

Looking at the tweet, it was obvious that Ray was laughing at Ham’s decision to bench his brother during the final few minutes of the game. Ray has always vouched for his brother and has called out Russ’ haters several times in the past as well.

But to be honest, Ham’s decision to bench Westbrook against the Wizards was correct. It’s obvious from the fact that the Lakers ended up winning the game without Westbrook in the closing lineup.

Hopefully, Russell Westbrook will not get offended by the decision and will bounce back in the Lakers’ next game. After all, they face the Phoenix Suns in their next game, who are one of the heavyweights of the conference.
