Scottie Pippen was asked to build the perfect NBA player using the skills of only the ones who are currently active, and he made some interesting selections.

For shooting, Pippen went with the obvious pick, Stephen Curry. There is not much to debate there, with even a sharpshooter like Damian Lillard admitting that Curry is the greatest shooter ever.

Next came defense, where Pippen chose Jimmy Butler. Butler is a fine defensive player, but he has never won Defensive Player of the Year. The Hall of Famer had options such as Giannis Antetokounmpo or Kawhi Leonard but opted for Butler.

They then got to passing, where Pippen picked LeBron James. This was a solid choice as James, who is fourth all-time for assists with 10,658, is one of the greatest playmakers we have ever seen. One could maybe make a case for Tyrese Haliburton, Nikola Jokic, or Trae Young, but you can’t go wrong when you pick LeBron.

Handles were the next category and just like shooting, the pick was pretty obvious, Kyrie Irving. The man himself believes that too, as Kyrie said he has the best handles in the NBA.

Speed was next and Pippen went with Ja Morant. Morant is certainly rapid on the court, but I think it’s safe to say the fastest player in the league right now is De’Aaron Fox. In the annual NBA GM survey before this season, Fox received 57% of the votes for fastest player in the league with the ball in his hands and Morant was second at 37%.

Next came what was certainly the most hilarious pick that Pippen made, as he chose Jokic when it came to Body. Jokic is not exactly built like how you’d want your ideal player to be, but Pippen picked him for whatever reason. I’m also not quite sure how your body type is a skill but whatever.

Lastly, they got to IQ, where Pippen picked LeBron again. James was the only one to make it in twice and both are fairly well deserved. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar probably has the best basketball IQ, with Jokic perhaps being the only other player in the mix.

The Jokic pick aside, I’d say the rest were pretty good. That would be quite the player, but I think if you switch the pick to Jokic’s passing and LeBron’s body, you’d get an unstoppable force.

Isiah Thomas’ Perfect NBA Player

Let’s now move on to one of Pippen’s great rivals, Isiah Thomas. Thomas was asked to create the perfect NBA player and he just chose LeBron with added two skills.

The Detroit Pistons icon said he would give Curry’s shooting and Irving’s handles to James, and that would create the perfect player. To be fair to Isiah, that would be a pretty exceptional player.

If there has been one area where LeBron hasn’t excelled at in his career, it’s outside shooting. Forget Irving’s handles, if he could just shoot like Curry, then there would be absolutely no way for anyone to guard him.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
