Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley have had a stranded relationship for years. The two NBA legends had similar paths in the league, but they eventually teamed up on the same squad, worsening their relationship, if there was any at that point.

They both joined Hakeem Olajuwon on the Houston Rockets, creating one of the worst superteams in NBA history. As we all know now, they couldn’t get the job done, and if Pippen and Barkley had beefed already, their relationship was completely destroyed after their tenure in Houston.

Scottie would reveal that Michael Jordan advised him against joining Charles Barkley, as the power forward didn’t have what it took to win an NBA championship. Pippen would learn that the hard way, admitting he regretted not listening to MJ (1:01 mark).

“I probably should’ve listened to Michael a year ago when he said that Charles will never win a championship because he doesn’t show any dedication. He’s a very selfish guy. He doesn’t show the desire to want to win. That’s my reason for wanting to get away from playing with him -because he just doesn’t show the dedication.”

This was a big realization for Pippen, who then spent the rest of his career wandering around the league before returning to Chicago and retiring with the Bulls, where he won six championships.

Scottie Pippen Is Still Beefing With Charles Barkley

The story between Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley has been complex from the very beginning. They didn’t like each other, and nothing changed even after they became teammates on the Rockets.

During Pippen’s crusade against Michael Jordan in 2021, he didn’t forget about Charles Barkley, making it clear that he’s not trying to make amends with him and other people like Isiah Thomas. There’s no love between these two legends, and nothing points out it’ll change anytime soon. This beef has been around for years, and we can expect it to continue for many more.
