Kyrie Irving defending Ja Morant didn’t sit down well with former NFL star-turned-analyst, Shannon Sharpe, who called out the Dallas Mavericks guard for his comments.

Speaking on Undisputed, Sharpe didn’t mince his words. “What did we get wrong about Ja?” Sharpe questioned Irving.

“A lot of us were saying that Ja was pretending to be something he’s not…Ja [Morant] was trying to pretend that he was a multi-hundred millionaire than he was just a gangster. He’s a studio gangster. He talked about it.”

Sharpe’s comments come from Irving’s thoughts on the slew of controversies Morant was embroiled in. Per The Athletic’s Joe Vardon, the Mavericks’ point guard was vocal in his support for Morant.

“I believe any hardship in life builds character,” Irving said. “When you’re dealing with particular hardships in the public eye, especially with the media being attracted to just keeping up with what we’re doing, or what’s the next kind of grab or story.”

To which, Sharpe had a ready retort. “Kyrie, just tell us what we got wrong, how we got it wrong,” he asked. “You brought a lot of this on yourself. You chose not to come to work and not tell your employer. You did that. You have been moody and mercurial. You did that. So don’t pretend like all of a sudden people have an axe to grind with you.”

Only time will tell how Irving will respond to the analyst’s razor-sharp comments.

Shannon Sharpe Had The Perfect Advice For Ja Morant

The Ja Morant controversy list grew over the last few weeks, and while at it, it also saw opinions and advice coming in from all sections of the NBA circuit. Sharpe had his two cents to share and offered the Grizzlies guard some advice as well.

“Ja, just move differently bruh, that’s the only advice,” Sharpe said. “I would never give you any advice about how to play basketball, but I would try to give you advice about how to move. Let someone else’s lesson be your lesson.”

True that he and the Memphis Grizzles guard have had their share of tussles, but Sharpe’s words to Morant show that he was one of the many who were genuinely concerned for the star, even though he did explain the ramifications of his actions in a rather harsh tone when calling out Irving.

For now, all eyes will be on Morant, who is expected to make his comeback against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. As for Irving, he has his hands full in keeping the Mavericks in playoff contention.
