Shaquille O’Neal On The Spurs Dynasty: “The First Time I’m Hearing About A Dynasty That Never Had No Problems.”

Pounding The Rock

Shaquille O’Neal was been on plenty of talented teams during his time in the NBA. From the Magic, to the Lakers, to Miami, he’s worked alongside a number of star-studded rosters.

So when he spoke highly about a certain Spurs dynasty in a recent episode of “All The Smoke” podcast, it was a review that carried a lot of weight. Most notably, he lauded that team for their chemistry and drama-free existence.

Here’s what he said:

“That’s probably the first time I’m hearing about a dynasty that never had no problems. All the other dynasties had problems,” said O’Neal, via Nicolas Kyle Pring of Fansided.

Indeed, when you have a lot of stars on one team, it usually comes with a lot of clashing personalities. We saw some of that in Shaq’s tenure with Kobe, but also for Miami’s “big three,” and the super-four in Golden State.

For the Spurs, however, (even with Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker) their team was always on the same page, and was never making headlines for the wrong reasons.

And while that era is over now in San Antonio, the legacy they’ve built will last forever, and guys like Shaq will continue to reflect on what made them so special.
