Shaquille O’Neal recently posted an old and shortened video on social media featuring LeBron James, where LeBron singles out Michael Jordan as the best player of all time. However, it’s crucial to note that the clip shared by Shaq is edited and does not include the full context of LeBron’s original response.

Check below what Shaq has shared on his Instagram:

In the complete and uncut video from 2013, LeBron James was asked to name the three best players in NBA history during an interview with Fox Sports. LeBron’s response was more extensive than the snippet shared by Shaq.

“Best three players of all time? Michael Jordan… Wow, Michael Jordan… Wow, this is tough Michael Jordan, Dr. J (Julius Erving), Larry Bird. You give me three, of my god. Three? Yeah, Larry Bird, Dr. J, and Michael Jordan. Can I get four? Magic.”

In the unedited version, LeBron acknowledged Michael Jordan’s greatness but went on to name three players he considered the best: Michael Jordan, Julius Erving (Dr. J), and Larry Bird. However, he expressed difficulty narrowing it down to just three and playfully requested permission to add a fourth, mentioning Magic Johnson.

The shortened video shared by Shaq creates a different impression by focusing solely on LeBron selecting Michael Jordan without providing the broader context of LeBron’s original response in 2013.

While social media often circulates condensed clips, it’s essential to consider the full context of statements, especially in discussions about the greatest players in NBA history. In this case, LeBron James acknowledged the greatness of Michael Jordan but also recognized other legends like Dr. J, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson in the complete interview.

LeBron James Should Be In Top 3 In Every GOAT List

LeBron James, often hailed as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, is a perennial candidate for the top spot in the “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) discussions. While individual opinions may vary, there are compelling arguments as to why LeBron James deserves a place in the top three of any GOAT list.

One of the most compelling aspects of LeBron’s case is his remarkable versatility and longevity in the NBA. Throughout his illustrious career, LeBron has consistently showcased an unprecedented combination of skills, excelling as a scorer, playmaker, and defender. His ability to impact various facets of the game sets him apart, making him a force on both ends of the court. Unlike many players who specialize in specific aspects, LeBron’s well-rounded game allows him to contribute to his team’s success in numerous ways.

LeBron’s impact extends beyond statistics. He has led multiple franchises to NBA championships, showcasing his leadership and ability to elevate the performance of those around him. From the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat and, most recently, the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron has demonstrated a rare ability to adapt to different teams, playing styles, and challenges.

The consistency and durability of LeBron James are also noteworthy. His longevity at an elite level is unprecedented, with LeBron maintaining an exceptionally high standard of play well into his 30s. This sustained excellence has allowed him to climb the all-time scoring list, climb the summit held by legends like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. LeBron’s durability and adaptability underscore his exceptional basketball IQ and commitment to maintaining peak physical condition.

Another aspect that bolsters LeBron’s case is his impact off the court. Beyond basketball, LeBron has been an influential figure in social justice initiatives, philanthropy, and activism. His willingness to use his platform to address societal issues has added an extra layer to his legacy, contributing to the broader conversation about the role of athletes in social change.

While the debate over the GOAT in basketball is subjective and often influenced by personal preferences, LeBron James’ resume, skill set, leadership, and longevity make a compelling case for his inclusion in the top three of any comprehensive list. Whether it’s comparing individual skills, impact on team success, or contributions to the community, LeBron’s influence on and off the court positions him as a defining figure in the history of the NBA and a strong contender for the title of the greatest basketball player of all time.
