Former NBA All-Star and one of the premier players of the ’90s, Shawn Kemp, was allegedly arrested for his participation in a drive-by shooting.

The Tacoma Police Department made a statement about the same without naming Kemp yesterday. Now, a video of Kemp shooting a gun right before the arrest in a parking lot has emerged.

Kemp has battled various issues in his years since retirement, with this incident not being the first time he’s had legal troubles. The investigation is ongoing, and more information will come to light over time. The video seems pretty damning, as the beloved former All-NBA star is clearly seen pulling a trigger.

Shawn Kemp’s Arrest Details

In the video of the incident, the 53-year-old Kemp is seen wearing a red vest and approaching a vehicle. He pointed his firearm, yelled something, and then pulled the trigger outside a shopping mall in Tacoma, Washington. The incident is said to have occurred around 2 PM.

TMZ said that witnesses have told them that Kemp ditched his gun in a bush after the incident. Kemp’s official arrest was made later in the day.

Kemp has previously faced legal troubles. Getting arrested in 2005 for possession of drugs was one of the most damaging things that could happen to him at the tail-end of his career. It ultimately caused the demise of his NBA career, forcing the player to retire despite trying to actively remain in the league.

Kemp runs a cannabis business now and was allegedly wearing the same clothes at a cannabis event earlier in the day that he can be seen wearing during the shooting.

The former Seattle SuperSonics star entertained millions regularly with his high-flying dunks. Now, the millions he entertained will pray that he can get his life back on track.
