Bronny James may not be the best player expected to declare for the 2024 NBA Draft, but he will be the most notable. The guard playing for the USC Tigers has long been earmarked to play in the NBA, possibly alongside his father, LeBron James. Many have doubted if Bronny is NBA-ready, but Skip Bayless advocated for Bronny with a huge compliment.

He discussed Bronny’s fearlessness on the court, a trait he attributed to the 18-year-old because he grew up with LeBron as his father.

“Bronny has a good feel for the game. He just knows how to play and he’s fearless because he grew up in a household with one of the best players ever.”

Bronny’s path to the NBA has already been built for him, so many people will continue arguing if he has earned it. Scouts have projected him to be an NBA-level 3-and-D guard prospect, but few think he can come close to being the same player his father was.

His preparations for the Draft were greatly hampered when he suffered a cardiac arrest before the NCAA season started. He didn’t play the first few months as he was recovering and has played limited minutes since making his debut. He’s averaging 5.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists this season for the Tigers, showing flashes of the player he can be but struggling to put it together consistently.

Many believe Bronny may be better off with another year in college to continue developing his game, but the allure of making the NBA and possibly playing with his father could come in the way of that.

Skip Bayless Heaped Praise On Bronny James

While discussing Bronny on his show, Undisputed, Skip seemed extremely complimentary of the college guard. He has been known to be one of LeBron’s harshest critics but had nothing but positive things to say about Bronny based on the basketball he’s seen him play.

“The Bronny I saw play in the McDonald’s All-Star game was good enough to contribute to an NBA team. He has a good enough feel for the game, he has a good NBA-type stature. He doesn’t have his father’s height, but he’s 6’3″ and he’s well-built. He shoots it better than his father has ever shot it from a distance. He doesn’t have his father’s passing gift, but he’s a solid orchestrator and distributor. He just knows how to play and he’s clearly fearless because he grew up in a household with one of the greatest players ever and the greatest scorer in the history of the league.”

Bayless went on to say that he thinks Bronny will impact the NBA, although he doesn’t see him as a full-time starter coming into the league.

“He’ll step onto an NBA floor and he will not shrink, he will rise to the occasion. I don’t doubt he can contribute, but I’m not sure he can be a full-time starter. Maybe with LeBron on the team, he could.”

Skip then said that he knows LeBron is driven to play alongside Bronny and would likely do anything to make it happen, with him having no problem that he’s using his star power in this manner.

“All I know is that LeBron is driven to play with his son, it’s his absolute dream come true and it’s going to happen. He’s earned the right to make it happen, no issue with that whatsoever.”

If Bayless is positive about Bronny’s future in the NBA, it says a lot about him as a prospect. Skip has gone out of his way to attack LeBron before, with many claiming he’s a biased analyst when it comes to James.

He has recently been complimenting LeBron more and gave an honest review of what he thinks Bronny can achieve. It’ll be interesting to see if Bronny can live up to the mountain of hype that’ll be on his shoulders if he declares for the NBA Draft, as it is nearly a guarantee that he’ll play NBA basketball.
