The Russell Westbrook trade hasn’t exactly worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers this year. While the team’s subpar performances aren’t directly on Russell Westbrook, there is no doubt that the team has failed to gel this season, and they are currently a play-in tier team.

There have been some suggestions that Russell Westbrook should be traded due to fit issues. It has also been reported that the only realistic Russell Westbrook trade for the Lakers is to the Rockets for John Wall.

Skip Bayless has recently commented on this potential trade, and he seems like a huge proponent for it. He stated that this trade would be “addition by subtraction”, and he made the argument that the Lakers should move Westbrook due to his ball-dominant nature.

It would be classic addition by subtraction. Don’t you want out from under Russell Westbrook? You’re trading high minutes, because Russ is leading the league in minutes played, for low to no minutes, which is a good thing… You would get rid of Russell Westbrook… You get out from under the mere presence of him, demanding the basketball, and being so intrusive on the offense.

John Wall is represented by… oh its Klutch… he is represented by Rich Paul, who happens to be the closest friend of LeBron James… John Wall would be more pliable than Russell Westbrook.

There is no doubt that Russell Westbrook is currently a better player than John Wall. However, it could be wise for the Lakers to move on from a player that hasn’t met expectations from the fans and franchise.

We’ll see what happens at the trade deadline. There’s no question that Russell Westbrook could still turn things around, and perhaps the Lakers will end up staying put. Russell Westbrook is definitely talented, and hopefully, he finds a way to mesh with LeBron James and Anthony Davis over the next few weeks.
