Amongst a sea of haters, Skip Bayless is among the loudest and most notorious when it comes to all things LeBron James. As a long-time critic of the NBA superstar, Bayless has seemingly made it his personal mission to discredit “the King’s” accomplishments as much as he can.
This week, in an episode of his podcast (the Skip Bayless show), the FOX Sports broadcaster laid into LeBron again, comparing his longevity to NFL legend Tom Brady’s.
“Is LeBron defeating Father Time just like you think Tom Brady is? The answer to that is a big n-o. He had the greatest year 19 of any NBA player ever, but that’s in large part because not many have lasted or wanted to last as long as LeBron has. I admire his fitness dedication. I admire his commitment to nutrition and warrior workouts. And yet, remember, LeBron is seven years and five months younger than Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr.
LeBron’s all-time greatest year 19 was, statistically, deeply flawed… crucial chinks were exposed that Brady had none of last season as he was 44 years old. LeBron last season ranked 15th in the NBA in three-point attempts, he finished 93rd in three-point shooting by percentage. That’s way too many three-point misses, that’s team-crushing.”

It’s a fact that LeBron isn’t as fast or as strong as he used to be. He’s not nearly as durable either, with just 101 games played over the last two seasons.
Still, while Brady is older and seemingly doing just as well in his sport, LeBron’s current run is something we’ve never seen before. For 19 years, he endured the challenges of a full NBA season and tackled them all with grace.
While he has been forced to make major adjustments to his game, LeBron is still finding ways to be effective on the court. It may not be quite in Brady’s territory yet, but he can get there if he really wants to.
