Skip Bayless Says LeBron James’ Recent Post About Larry Bird Is A Shot At Michael Jordan

Thanks to “The Last Dance” documentary, the GOAT conversation has never been more discussed. As the world remembers the dominance of MJ, his name and legacy have become all the rage on social media.

But there is another star picking up hype on the internet: Larry Bird. With some questioning whether or not he’d dominate today’s game, Lakers superstar LeBron James insisted he’d light up the court in any conditions.

LeBron’s defense of Larry became a debate on FOX Sports’ Undisputed when Skip claimed Bron’s post was actually a subtle shot at Michael Jeffrey Jordan.

Out of the blue, out of nowhere, for no apparent reason, LeBron suddenly posts an Ode to Larry Bird. This is ahead of episodes 5 and 6 of The Last Dance featuring Michael Jordan, the obvious GOAT, and all of a sudden out of nowhere LeBron posts an Ode to Larry Bird? Wait a second are you trying to take some of the focus off Michael Jordan and say wait a second everybody do you remember Larry Bird? He played in Michael’s era and even though LeBron didn’t post this I think LeBron is such a student of history that he knows full well that Michael Jordan never beat Larry Bird in a playoff game. Larry Bird’s Celtics went 6-0 against Michael’s Bulls — never beat ’em. These were best-of-five series, first-round series and it was sweep-sweep three-three. Three to nothing, three to nothing. So I think LeBron is trying to remind everybody between the lines, subtly, “everybody remember, Larry Bird was really good!” In fact it sounds like maybe LeBron was trying to make the case that even Larry Bird was better than Michael Jordan.

Truth be told, it is interesting that Michael never beat Bird in a single playoff game. While it may not have been LeBron’s intent to make that truth known, he definitely helped spread that narrative around — even if indirectly and unintentionally.

Whether or not he knew what he was doing, though, is not easy to conclude. Skip makes a lead here with no real backing to it. James could have just been showing support to an NBA legend.

On the other hand, this whole MJ documentary isn’t helping his quest for the GOAT title.

James’ actions, it seems, will continue to be a matter for debate.
