Steph Curry Responds To Critics On His Defense: “I Do My Job, Man. It’s All About Effort, It’s About Consistency And Just The Want-To To Be In The Right Place At The Right Time. Definitely Up For That Challenge.”

Stephen Curry may be the NBA’s best shooter but, when it comes to defense, he isn’t exactly what we’d call a specialist on that end of the floor.

He is often targeted defensively by his opponents and fans have been quick to criticize the 2x MVP for it in the past.

In an interview with Drew Shiller of NBC Sports, he addressed those criticisms, citing that he gets the job done with effort and intensity.

“I do my job, man,” Curry said. “And know exactly what I need to do to hold up my bargain on that end of the floor. It’s my job to take those challenges, take those matchups, and just compete. Bring effort.

“It’s all about effort, it’s about consistency (and) just the want-to to be in the right place at the right time. Definitely up for that challenge.”

According to Curry, he has shown improvement on that side of the floor, even if folks haven’t always seen it.

“I’ve gotten a lot better,” Curry added. “Whether I get that acknowledgement or not, I don’t care … I do my job. I know when I’m locked in and when I’m not, and what that looks like.”

This upcoming season, Curry will get the chance to prove his words as he leads the Warriors to what they hope will be another prosperous season.

Without Klay Thompson for another year, it will be tough to come out of the West. The Dubs will have to adjust to many changes as they compete against powerful foes like the Lakers, Clippers, Blazers, and Nuggets.

But with Curry, they’ve certainly got the chance to surprise some folks, especially if he continues to improve his game.
