Steph Curry Says He ‘Played Like Trash’ Despite Posting Triple-Double To Help Warriors Win Opening Game

The best players in the NBA are those that are never satisfied with their own performance. Even if their numbers appear to be good, high-level players pick flaws in their game in order to identify what they can do better. That is the mindset required in order to succeed at the highest level in the NBA.

Without a doubt, Steph Curry is one of those players. Curry and the Warriors opened their NBA season with a win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Going into the game, the Lakers were expected to get the win. And while LeBron James and Anthony Davis had great performances, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Warriors.

One player who felt he did not have a great performance was Steph Curry. Curry had an off night shooting the ball but still managed to get a triple-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Curry’s off-night was a fact Skip Bayless recently used to make fun of LeBron James for losing the game despite a good performance.

After the game, Curry was critical of his performance, even going so far as to say that he ‘played like trash’ against the Lakers. While Curry wasn’t his usual efficient self from the scoring end, he did put up really good numbers against the Lakers and helped the Warriors seal the victory during the final quarter of the game.

Clearly, Curry expects the best from himself. And given his resume, that can come as no surprise. Curry is a 3-time NBA champion, 2-time MVP, the greatest shooter of all time, and one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Many have given Curry credit for changing the game. His prowess with the three-point shot caused many teams to emphasize it during games. In fact, Dwyane Wade and Tiger Woods once spoke about the incredible things that Steph Curry was doing in the NBA.

Going forward, fans can only expect Curry to get better. And if he can rediscover his form from last season, the Warriors will be better. On top of that, the return of Klay Thompson, and his performances, could determine the Warriors’ status as a championship contender this year.
