  • Smith questions LeBron’s absence at Wade’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony
  • Wade’s impact on LeBron’s game and confidence was highlighted as crucial to success
  • Smith highlights Wade’s protective role during critical moments in LeBron’s career

In a recent podcast segment of The Stephen A. Smith Show, ESPN’s prominent analyst Stephen A. Smith didn’t shy away from sharing his unfiltered opinion about LeBron James‘ absence from Dwyane Wade’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony:

“To me, the last person that should have missed Dwyane Wade’s induction into the Hall of Fame is LeBron James.”

“Here’s why, LeBron James, one can easily argue, wouldn’t even know what it’s like to be a champion if it wasn’t for Dwyane Wade. Somebody’s got to say it, so I’m gonna say it.”

“We all know that LeBron James – I got him No. 2 all time. I understand it’s offensive to his camp, but they’ll get over it.”

“I’m of the mindset that LeBron James owes his championship pedigree to Dwyane Wade.”

LeBron’s absence from the Hall of Fame induction left Smith both shocked and critical. He underscored that given their close relationship and the undeniable impact Wade had on LeBron’s career, James should have been present to honor his fellow superstar’s induction.

However, Smith also stated that none of this would matter if the reason LeBron missed Wade’s HOF induction ceremony was for the wellbeing of his son, Bronny, who recently suffered a cardiac arrest at USC.

Stephen A. Smith Says Dwyane Wade Protected LeBron James

Smith pointed out that Wade’s impact extended beyond their on-court partnership; he became a protective figure for LeBron during challenging moments. According to Smith, Wade’s mentorship and support were essential in molding LeBron into the champion he is today.

Smith delved into specific instances, highlighting LeBron’s first season with the Miami Heat. He noted how Wade’s willingness to step aside and let LeBron take the reins showcased a unique bond of cooperation.

Smith also drew attention to LeBron’s growth as both a player and a person under Wade’s protective wing, particularly during times of media scrutiny.

His comments also shed light on the multifaceted nature of NBA careers, demonstrating that success isn’t solely shaped by individual talent, but also by the relationships and partnerships that develop within teams.

In essence, Stephen A. Smith’s assertion that Dwyane Wade served as a protector and mentor for LeBron James brings forth a thought-provoking perspective on the behind-the-scenes dynamics of NBA superstar partnerships.

It prompts discussions on the invaluable role teammates can play in shaping the trajectory of their colleagues’ careers, on and off the court.
