The Golden State Warriors are waiting for Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies in the second round of the 2022 NBA playoffs after easily getting rid of the Nikola Jokic and his Denver Nuggets earlier this week. The Dubs played great basketball, and even with Steph coming off the bench, they showed that they still have it and why it’ll be hard to beat them this season.
The Grizzlies come inspired to this series, but the Warriors are ready for everything. Curry is ready to lead this squad to the Western Conference finals for the first time since 2019, and many people believe this series can be the confirmation that Steph and co. are back.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has had big praise for Curry and the Warriors this season, picking them as his championship favorites at some point. Moreover, he warned the rest of the league about the 6x NBA champions, reminding people that superstars from the prior era like LeBron James and Kevin Durant are on vacation right now, while Curry is playing at a high level, just like his team.
“Told you! I told you all. The Golden State Warriors were a problem, I told you they were the favorite to come out of the West from the start of the season! I told you that even before Klay Thompson came back. I told you that before Jordan Poole emerged as another assassin in that lineup, and you better believe the Denver Nuggets can tell you how good this Warriors team is, ok? Because the Nuggets just got tossed down like yesterday’s trash. …Even the reigning MVP, Nikola Jokic, couldn’t make it a series. He played well, stepped up averaging 31 in the series, but even he was no match for this Warriors team. And don’t forget, Steph Curry didn’t start until Game 5. He didn’t play more than 23 minutes until Game 3 and the Warriors still won with relative ease. KD (Kevin Durant) and LeBron (James) are both sitting at home. KD is spending his time taking on all comers on Twitter, but Steph Curry, oh he’s just waking up. He’s just getting warmed up. The Warriors are coming. I did tell y’all, you should have listened.”
It seems like the Warriors are really coming after a dominating win over the Nuggets. They looked like that team that ruled the league from 2015 through 2019 in the first round, but now the challenge will be bigger. Ja Morant and his Grizzlies looked dangerous against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but Golden State knows how to handle up and rising stars.
Curry is playing at a great level and he’s fresh after not putting too much effort against Denver. He’s on a mission this season, just like Klay Thompson, Jordan Poole, and Draymond Green. They have big expectations right now, but they know how to handle the pressure. It’s safe to safe that the Warriors are back and the league should be worried about it.
