Stephen A. Smith Says The Milwaukee Bucks Should Trade Giannis Antetokounmpo: “It’s Too Late.”

A lot has been said about Giannis Antetokounmpo, his impending free agency or if the Milwaukee Bucks will pull the trigger and send him to another franchise and get as many assets as they can in exchange for the 2x NBA MVP. Antetokounmpo is one of the best players in the league but he’s failed to reach the NBA Finals with his team, raising questions about his talent or if the Bucks are the right place for him to compete for the title.

Well, Stephen A. Smith believes the Bucks should just trade Giannis away while they still have the opportunity. During Tuesday’s edition of ESPN’s ‘First Take,’ Smith made the case for the Bucks to trade their superstar.

“If I’m the Milwaukee Bucks, believe it or not, I’d trade Giannis,” Smith said. “You cannot lose Giannis for nothing. Not Milwaukee, Golden State can, New York can, LA can, but Milwaukee cannot lose Giannis Antetokounmpo.”

Max Kellerman agreed with Smith and actually blamed the Bucks’ ownership for this whole situation. They did assure Giannis they were going to spend to bring good pieces to have a better shot at the title, but none of this would have happened if they did that in the first place. Kellerman had big criticism for them, saying they played Giannis ‘cheap.’

“The owners of the Bucks played them cheap. They played the town of Milwaukee cheap. … They played Giannis cheap and now they’re crying about how they want to keep him. It’s too late.”

Giannis committed to remain at least one more season with the Bucks and see how things work this next season. He will become a free agent next summer and if the Bucks have a horrendous playoffs run as they had in the bubble, it’s highly likely we’ll see the Greek Freak signing with a different team in the free market. It was recently reported that the Bucks aren’t looking to trade their figure, but that option could draw more attention during the season, depending on how they fare next year.
