At just 14-13 on the season, the Golden State Warriors have not looked like the team that won the championship just a couple of months ago. Through the first couple of months of the season, miscommunications and inconsistency on both ends of the floor have characterized their play and it has many fans wondering if the run is over for this legendary dynasty.
While many are already counting them out, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith isn’t ready to give up on them just yet. On First Take Tuesday morning, he spoke about the Warriors and their place in the Western Conference playoff picture.
“As much as Golden State has struggled, not worried. All I keep telling everybody is when Klay becomes Klay look out,” said Smith. “Because I don’t care what anybody says this brother is lethal and when he stops worrying about what people are saying and remembers he’s a 4x champion and one of the greatest shooters this game has ever seen and plays like that along with Steph Curry… and I’ve been bringing up this Wiseman guy for a reason. I know he’s in the G-league but if he gives you anything, it changes everything for the Golden State Warriors. Golden State is going to be in the playoffs and they are going to be hell to reckon with if everybody’s healthy.”
Stephen A. has a lot of faith that Klay Thompson will turn things around, and that is understandable. Even coming off of two major injuries, we all expect that Klay will revert to being the guy we saw in the Finals last year, at the very least.
James Wiseman, however, is much more of a wildcard for the Warriors. He’s been a total bust so far, but there is hope that some time and more reps in the G-League will help him find his touch for the game again.
The Golden State Warriors Aren’t Concerned With Western Competitors
The Dubs have struggled early on, but it doesn’t seem like their confidence has been rattled at all. In fact, when asked directly about the other Western teams, Draymond Green said he’s not concerned with any of them.
The win sees the Warriors in eighth place in the West with a 14-13 record. And going by Green’s thoughts, should they continue to be consistent, the defending champions will have finally arrived at the party after a sloppy run so far.

It remains to be seen if the Warriors can flip the switch, but they don’t seem to be concerned with their current situation.
And as the defending champions, it’s hard not to give them the benefit of the doubt and you can bet no team in the West will be taking them lightly.
