Jayson Tatum has been one of the NBA’s high-profile stars from the start of his career, bursting onto the stage as a 19-year-old. This created an internet meme where every time Tatum has achieved anything, fans remark, “He’s just 19 years old!”

Tatum appeared in the latest Subway ad with Stephen Curry, where Tatum refers to himself as a future champion in front of Steph. Curry makes the age joke in response to what JT had to say.

“He’s cocky for a 19-year-old.”

Tatum has built an incredible resume of accomplishments already in his career. He has made it to four Eastern Conference Finals and one NBA Finals. In those Finals, Tatum lost to the man opposite him in this advertisement. Curry’s Warriors won their fourth title in nine years at Tatum’s expense, but it seems the Celtics’ star is confident his time will come.

Jayson Tatum Hoping To Break The Championship Barrier

Next season is going to be one of the highest-pressure seasons Tatum has had in the NBA. After coming off a Finals run and losing to an eighth seed in the Conference Finals, the Celtics have been visibly shaken up. Marcus Smart was traded away for Kristaps Porzingis as the team experiments with a new big three for next season.

Tatum averaged 30.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists last season and was named to the All-NBA First Team for the second consecutive season. He’s likely going to be one of the favorites for the MVP award next season, as the Celtics will be expected to continue being one of the best teams in the East.
