Jordan Poole has been the best young player on the Golden State Warriors this season, thriving within the team’s system. He has had a breakout playoff run this season, averaging 22.7 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and 6.0 APG over the course of the playoffs.

In the Golden State Warriors Game 1 against the Memphis Grizzlies, Jordan Poole had an astounding performance. He put up 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists while shooting 50% from beyond the arc. He was the MVP for the Golden State Warriors that game, and it’s clear that they wouldn’t have won without his offensive explosion.

After the game, Stephen Curry lauded the young shooting guard’s performance, claiming that “he’s a hooper”. There’s no doubt that Jordan Poole has blossomed in a big way this year, and he looks like the future of the Golden State Warriors franchise.

“He’s a hooper. You either have it or you don’t. He does.”

Though Ja Morant ended up winning the Most Improved Player award this season, it is clear that Jordan Poole was a deserving candidate. Many believed that he deserved to win, including Warriors forward Draymond Green.

“If Jordan Poole isn’t the Most Improved Player, then the NBA really needs to relook at their process. Because you cannot find a guy on that list that has made a bigger improvement,” Green said. “I don’t care. If he’s not the Most Improved Player, then let’s rename the award to … who we like the most, who we see as more electrifying, to who we see may have a bigger impact on our team.”

“That’s not the name of the award, that’s actually the Most Valuable Player, and so if we’re talking about the Most Improved Player, and if the award was voted on based upon its name, then it’s a no-brainer who’s the Most Improved Player. I just fear these awards sometimes aren’t voted on in junction with the name. That’s the issue. That’s probably why Jordan lost Most Improved Player.”

It remains to be seen how Jordan Poole will do for the rest of the playoffs. He is clearly a problem to deal with for opposing defenses, and we’ll see how the Grizzlies adjust their scheme to account for him.

The Golden State Warriors definitely look like a team that could potentially win the NBA championship this season. They have the talent to do so, and Jordan Poole will be a crucial player in their pursuit of the title.
