As the United States prepares for another Presidential election, intensity is rising on both sides of the aisle. For Warriors guard Stephen Curry, his support for Kamala Harris is unwavering and he and his wife recently took a stand to endorse the Vice President’s campaign.

“I approach everything with decency and humanity. It’s not like I’m out here casting flames at the other side. it’s just — this is what I believe in, whether you agree with me or not,” said Curry. “Like you want to be able to foster positive conversations and you want to be able to have an intelligent conversation about what’s actually happening. And I do hate the inherent backlash you get if you just say anything. Nobody will really hear what you say or how you say it. It’s just the fact that people might be against the way you think. And that’s how life is supposed to be. Not everybody is supposed to think the same way. But you’re supposed to have a level of decency and humanity to say, I respect you.”

You can’t blame Curry for taking a cautious approach with his stance. The election cycle seems to be especially volatile this year with Donald Trump and Kamala Harris going toe-to-toe in a brutal battle. What’s even worse are their supporters, who are quick to demonize and alienate the other side.

Earlier this week, Steph made his biggest political appearance yet with a live showing at the Democratic National Convention. He explained his thoughts for Harris in front of a packed crowd, not long after Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, expressed his own support for the Democratic ticket.

As a resident of San Francisco for the past 13 years, it should be no surprise that Curry and his allies have aligned with the Democrats. In fact, Curry has been against former President Donald Trump since his first campaign began back in 2015.

Steph and his team famously refused to visit the White House after winning the championships in 2017 and 2018 and Curry’s wife, Ayesha, has publicly condemned Mr. Trump multiple times before. In June of 2020, Curry was caught chanting “Donald Trump has got to go” during a protest in Palo Alto.

With Trump picking up steam and the election drawing near, Curry decided to intensify his political alignment and come out in full force for Kamala Harris. And while many fans have responded with nasty comments toward Curry, he has done his best to stay civil and show respect for everyone’s opinions.

Of course, once the season begins, he won’t have time to be involved with the political games. After a disappointing campaign with the Warriors last year, it will take everything for Steph to carry the Warriors to success in the West. With a few new pieces and good health, Curry has a chance to pull off something special this year and it will require complete focus and dedication to the mission at hand.

Whatever happens in November, Curry can take comfort in knowing that he did his part to swing the election his way. In the meantime, he’s going to do whatever he can to complete the mission and bring home another title.
