Andrew Wiggins was the 2014 No. 1 overall draft pick, and because of his draft position, he has often been labeled as a disappointment, simply because he is not a superstar. However, that doesn’t mean that he’s a bad player. In fact, the Golden State Warriors’ second-best scorer on the roster is enjoying career highs in efficiency and performed admirably against LeBron James on the defensive end during the Golden State Warriors’ recent play-in game.

His defensive possessions on LeBron James caused the young wing to gain a lot of attention, and many were impressed with the way he was guarding the King. Wiggins also poured in 21 points on 10-18 shooting, showing his prowess as a two-way player. Steve Kerr has recently commented on Andrew Wiggins’ improvement and took a dig at his doubters, in a recent appearance on “Tolbert, Krueger, and Brooks”.

Well I don’t know if you guys know this, but people actually change and evolve. Guys get better. They put the work in, they evolve, they learn. Wiggs is getting better.

He’s a fantastic defender, he’s been aggressive offensively, this has been his most efficient season. The work pays off.

When you got a guy who’s got a great commitment and spirit and dedication to his teammates, good things are gonna happen

Many people attacked the Golden State Warriors for their decision to acquire Andrew Wiggins in a D’Angelo Russell trade to Minnesota. However, it seems as though the Golden State Warriors definitely benefited from the deal, as Wiggins has been a big part of why they’re in the playoffs due to his elite defense and supplementary scoring.

Andrew Wiggins is a player who can lock down the best perimeter scorer on the opposing team, while also providing serviceable offense. To say he’s a star currently would be inaccurate, but there are definitely nights where he looks like one. It seems as though Steve Kerr’s coaching has gotten the best out of Andrew Wiggins, and hopefully, he can unlock that potential that people have always talked about.
