For the past 20 years, LeBron James has consistently been one of the best players on the planet. Year in and year out, you could always count on James to play like a superstar and get the absolute most out of the guys who played around him.

Even now, in this current season with the Lakers, James continues to find ways to make his teammates better and it’s been one of the hallmarks for him at this stage of his career.

So after passing Steve Nash on the NBA’s All-Time assists list, nobody was surprised or taken off guard. At this point, passing records is the norm for King James.

In fact, even Nash himself had some words to share after James’ latest milestone.

It was just one message in a chorus of praise for James, but it cannot be overstated what a monumental achievement it is. With 10,338 assists (so far), only three players in NBA history have ever totaled more in the NBA.

Longevity Is LeBron’s Greatest Superpower

While LeBron’s greatness speaks for itself, his place at the top of most statistical categories is no accident. With over 1,400 games played in his career, it’s LeBron’s durability and longevity that continue to keep him relevant at almost 40 years old.

“The longevity is inspiring, you look up and you still see 30 points a night at 38 years old, still making plays on both ends of the floor, man that’s truly inspirational,” said Nets superstar Kevin Durant on LeBron. “Running up the court fast, he’s still explosive. He’s inspiring, he is setting the bat for what an athlete wants to be. Not everybody can do this. This is like the greatest that you can get. Especially in our era of basketball to have somebody that accomplished something like that, is inspiring to see. It is going to set the precedent for basketball players for a long time.”

While Stockton’s place at the top is probably unattainable for LeBron, he has already done more than enough to call himself the greatest to ever do it.

If he sticks around and plays at this level for several more years, who knows what kind of numbers LeBron will have? Either way, it’s a monster achievement for James and a testament to his dedication to the game.
