Widely regarded as one of the NBA’s all-time greatest point guards, Steve Nash is nothing short of a legend.
And while the guy’s playing days have long since passed, he is still very much involved in the game as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets.
So when Suns star Chris Paul surpassed Nash on the all-time assists chart, he was there to give his thoughts… at first only using two words before getting a little more serious.
All in all, it made for a pretty cool moment.
“Damnit!…
Chris is just one of the best point guards we’ve ever had. So, well deserved and I’m sure he’s going to get many, many more. And it’s been incredible to watch his career.”

Paul, 36, is revered for his basketball IQ, leadership, and playmaking ability. While the superstar has not yet won a Championship, surpassing a great like Steve Nash is an honor in itself.
“Man it’s amazing,” said Paul after the game. “You know my family’s here. My dad… Playing against New Orleans, where it all started for me… It’s an honor and a privilege, and I thank God that I still get a chance to play.”
Currently, Paul has been credited a total of 10,346 assists over 1,095 games played. Ahead of him lies Jason Kidd at 12,091 assists and John Stockton at 15,806 assists.
At his current pace, it will take years for CP3 to move up again, but it’s certainly possible.
Time and time again, Paul has proven the masses wrong with his impressive durability. Even after 16 seasons, he remains one of the league’s elite guards.
This season, the Suns are only 3-3, not a place they hoped to be to start this season. But with CP3 and Booker on the roster, they have everything they need to change course and make another deep run.
