Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was selected to his first All-Star Game this season, and there’s no doubt that he’s having an amazing year. He has managed to uplift an Oklahoma City Thunder roster that is without Chet Holmgren and has them fighting for the play-in tournament in the Western Conference.

Recently, legendary point guard Steve Nash has stated that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander can become better than him in the future, noting that he loves the point guard’s game. There’s no doubt that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a very intriguing play style, as he is one of the top paint finishers in the league as a guard.

There is no doubt that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has the potential to surpass Steve Nash as the best Canadian player of all time. He will have to continue racking up accolades year-to-year, and that sort of recognition will happen if he ends up leading the Thunder to more wins going forward.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is currently putting up 31.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 5.6 APG for the Oklahoma City Thunder. There’s no doubt that he is giving his team superstar-level production, and it will be exciting to see how good he can become.

There Are A Lot Of People Who Are High On Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

There’s no doubt that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a bright future in the league. In fact, at one point, an NBA executive claimed that Gilgeous-Alexander is the second-best player in the league behind Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“An executive texted me last night watching the game. He said there’s only one player in the league right now playing definitely playing better than Shai this season, that’s Giannis. You can argue other people… but he’s in the conversation with guys like Luka, like Tatum, like Jokic, like Embiid,” said Brian Windhorst.

Though that is definitely a hot take, it is easy to see why the executive said that based on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s season. Though it is clear that there are still other superstars who are ahead of him in the rankings, Gilgeous-Alexander is widely considered to be a top-15 player.

It remains to be seen what Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will look like next season. However, it is clear that he is an elite talent, who can become a top 5 player in the entire league. Hopefully, we see him reach his ceiling, and perhaps he will even become the best player in the world at some point.
