Every time LeBron James steps onto the court, he’s looking to make his case as the greatest basketball player of all time even stronger. More people are slowly starting to acknowledge LeBron as the GOAT ahead of Michael Jordan, with the latest addition to that list being Clippers’ swingman Terance Mann, who called LBJ the GOAT on YouTube.

“Number 1 of all time is LeBron James. Why? I don’t wanna get into it because that’s just controversial. But at his age, at his years in the league right now, I think he’s making an obvious case of being the GOAT. Let alone all the Finals he went to, let alone the Conference finals he’s gone to, all the different teammates he’s had and done it, going from team to team and doing the same thing with the same numbers, it’s almost obvious at this point.”

The younger generation will start skewing the debate in favor of LeBron over the coming years because James is the player they watched up growing. Jordan dominated before a lot of the current young players in the NBA were even born. Even a player in his sixth season like

Luka Doncic never saw Jordan play on the Bulls as a kid, so the future generation will lean on LeBron because his presence in the league has been unavoidable for the last 21 years.

The longevity is incredible, the achievements are incredible, and the longer he keeps playing, he’ll have more people switching over to his side. Even his biggest haters such as Skip Bayless have been growing softer in their analysis of LeBron, as he is simply boggling fans and analysts with his longevity. Mann may be a rival of the Lakers, but even he recognizes what LeBron is doing.

The GOAT Conversations Are Not Finished

LeBron James became the all-time minutes leader in NBA history tonight and is already the all-time scoring leader of the league, crossing the 39,000-point mark earlier this month. He’s laughing in the face of everything we knew about the prime and downfall of NBA players. While James isn’t in his prime anymore, his 39-year-old self is still among the 15 best players in the NBA. He’s still going, so there are more accolades coming his way.

But are the accolades that LeBron could earn great enough to help him surpass Michael Jordan? A lot of people would say no.

Jordan has more championships, Finals MVPs, regular-season MVPs, a Defensive Player of the Year award, and an incredible 10 scoring titles. James outnumbers Jordan in other accomplishments such as more All-Star and All-NBA appearances, more playoff and regular season points, and a more well-rounded offensive game with his superior playmaking.

Jordan’s statistics and achievements seem just too unreal, but I do think there’s one more accomplishment that could put LeBron on equal footing with Jordan, if not surpass him altogether. If James wins a championship in Year 21 or after of his career as a major contributor, the conversation will not be as easy to dismiss as it has been for Jordan fans for years.

The pure accolades will always lean toward Jordan, but people who got to witness LeBron rewrite what is expected from an NBA player in his 30s will not care for 6-0 vs. 5-6. The argument for Jordan may end up aging out of this world, and eventually, the same will happen to LeBron with the next young star.
