After trading forward John Collins, the Atlanta Hawks are set to be on their major roster revamp plans as they are reportedly open to trading everyone except Trae Young.

Per NBA reporter Evan Sidery, “The Hawks have many veteran players available in trade discussions. Virtually everybody among their veterans, except for Trae Young, have really been part of {trade talks} for the Hawks.” Two players who fit this criteria are Clint Capela and De’Andre Hunter. Woj also mentioned yesterday Atlanta wants to work on long-term extensions for Dejounte Murray, Onyeka Okongwu, and Saddiq Bey.”

It appears that the Hawks are set to blow up their roster and make smart moves that see them shop for parts that complement the duo of Young and Dejounte Murray.

Earlier, Atlanta traded Collins to the Utah Jazz that fetched them Rudy Gay and a second-round pick in return. The whole deal was to ensure they have some cap flexibility, although what it did do is see them sacrifice a productive big for more assets. Now, it remains to be seen if they can manage to land names that bolster their defense.

NBA Executives Believe Trae Young Will Ask To Be Traded

Soon after the Denver Nuggets won the NBA championship, Trae Young was one of the players who tweeted that the Hawks will win the championship. But there have been reports that the point guard will eventually ask out of Atlanta.

There have been rumors of Young being linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, but chances are that there will be multiple franchises that will make a beeline for him. The previous season saw him average 26.2 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 10.2 APG, and 1.1 SPG — and the consistency was just enough to get the Hawks through to the playoffs on a 41-41 record in the East.

In addition, he is under contract till the 2026-27 season and has a player option, so the Hawks wouldn’t necessarily be in a hurry to trade him.
