The Charlotte Hornets have seen a drastic improvement over the last few years. The Hornets made one of the best draft decisions in the history of their franchise when they selected LaMelo Ball with the 3rd overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. And since then, the Hornets have become one of the most entertaining teams in the league.
This season, the Hornets have been very inconsistent. They will have good patches of form, but then that will end after a loss. This has been going on all season. It hasn’t been wildly detrimental to the Hornets and their playoff hopes, but they have failed to remain consistent during the course of the season. And a close look at their current record indicates that they have had a perfectly balanced record in the NBA.
As pointed out by Reddit user u/trakavica, The Charlotte Hornets currently have a 35-35 record, right at the .500 mark. On top of that, they have a perfect 17-17 record at home and an 18-18 record away from home. Against Eastern Conference teams, they have a 22-22 record, and a 13-13 record against teams in the Western Conference.
This is a unique milestone for the Hornets, one that we very rarely see within the league. The Hornets currently have the 9th seed in the Eastern Conference, which would get them a spot in the play-in tournament. The Hornets will be hoping to move up the Eastern Conference standings and possibly secure the 6th seed, or the 7th seed to have a better position in the play-in tournament.
Last season, the Hornets had a pretty good season, thanks to LaMelo Ball’s incredible play. Ball won Rookie Of The Year and the Hornets were able to secure a spot in the play-in tournament. But the Hornets’ lack of experience cost them, and they weren’t able to make it to the playoffs. They’ll be hoping to turn that around this season.
