The Golden State Warriors may have assembled one of the greatest starting five’s the NBA has ever seen in history this summer, signing All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins to a one-year/$5.3 million deal to join forces with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant.
Just like in the plot of cult classic Space Jam, all other 29 teams in the NBA barely stand a chance against this super squad if Cousins can return from his Achilles tear just as good as he was prior to the injury, that is unless a prime Michael Jordan can somehow appear out of thin air.

Reddit user -Wayward_Son- has seen the comparisons between the Warriors and Monstars, and has decided to explore just how similar the two teams actually are. And surprisingly, the 2018-19 Warriors are actually better than a fictional squad scripted to look unbeatable. HOW.
“The Warriors have 2 more MVPs, 1 more All-Star, 1 more DPOY, and 1 more All-Defensive
In the hit 1996 blockbuster movie Space Jam, Micheal Jordan saves basketball, humanity, and cartoonity, after defeating the Monstars in the GGOAT (Greatest Game of All Time). In the 90’s basketball was only played with 5 players per roster (this was why Jordan and Pippen were able to dominate the 90’s btw). Because of these outdated rules the Monstars only had 5 players on their roster. Here is a table showing the comparison of the two teams.”

Next year’s Warriors outrank the Monstar’s NBA counterparts in MVP’s, All-NBA selections, All-Star selections, Defensive Player of the Year honors, and All-Defensive Nods. Unbelievable.
-Wayward_Son- also compared Golden State to USA’s 2008 ‘Redeem Team’, and the Warriors are pretty much equal with their accolades as well.

So yeah, we’re currently looking at a starting five in the NBA next season that rivals one of the most fearsome starting units in cinema history, as well as an Olympic starting five that won a gold medal in 2008. Strap yourselves in folks.
