Stephen A. Smith issued a warning gong to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors ahead of their Monday night Game 4 skirmish against the Los Angeles Lakers.

“What the win told us is that the Los Angeles Lakers are going to send the reigning defending NBA champions home in these playoffs if they don’t show up,” Smith said on NBA Countdown.

“The Lakers are undefeated at home this postseason. You’re the Golden State Warriors, they have home-court advantage because they stole one from you in San Francisco. You got to win one of these, preferably Game 4 because I don’t think you can come back from a 3-1 deficit against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers

Smith also outlined James’ average run in the postseason this time around. “James hasn’t scored 30 points in these games, this is an aberration for him, but it doesn’t matter,” he added. “Anthony Davis had 25 [points] and 13 [rebounds], let’s see what he does in Game 4. In the end, as anemic as the Warriors looked last night, they got to win Game 4, or else they’re going home.”

The Warriors were blown away 127-97 in Game 3 at the Crypto.com Arena and Curry’s 23 points were futile as the rest of the Warriors failed to step up. Now, they are under immense pressure to land a punch in a pivotal fourth game to keep their hopes of staying in the playoffs alive.

Stephen Curry Wasn’t Too Perturbed About The Warriors’ Game 3 Loss

Despite the Game 3 trouncing, Curry wasn’t pressing the panic button yet. “That’s kind of the nature of a playoff series, especially because of how drastically different we play,” Curry told the media after the game. “We’ll respond — got a lot of confidence in our ability to do that and it’s why you play the game.”

It’s understandable where the guard gets his confidence from. The Warriors have been in these situations before and they have clawed their way back into contention. What they need is to pick up momentum in Game 4, and Curry is more than confident that the defending champs could do it.

It’s too early to say if the Lakers have figured out how to neutralize the sharpshooter. He is the best player in the Warriors’ fold and LA has managed to keep him quiet by double-teaming him thus far. But only time will tell if they can manage to do that in the upcoming clash.
