Kevin Durant and Draymond Green met in 2016 during free agency to discuss Durant potentially coming to the Golden State Warriors. Durant, who was with Oklahoma City the previous season, lost to the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals after blowing a 3-1 lead.

But then, the Warriors did the exact same thing against the Cleveland Cavaliers, losing the NBA Finals and becoming the first team in NBA Finals history to blow a 3-1 lead. Green was successful, and Durant joined the Golden State Warriors to form one of the greatest NBA teams of all time.

From there, the Warriors went to three straight NBA Finals and won two NBA Championships. Durant was named Finals MVP for both those series. But in 2018-19, the Warriors and Durant looked to be falling out of love.

One incident that brought this to light was against the Los Angeles Clippers at the start of the 2018-19 season. The game was tied 106-106 at the end of regulation time. Green fumbled the ball on the last play, which meant the Warriors couldn’t take a shot to win the game.

During the huddle before extra time, Green and Durant had a verbal altercation. Both players were seemingly heated and didn’t hold back with their words. The players were separated by their teammates and coaching staff, but clearly, neither one was happy.

Durant and the Warriors lost in the 2019 NBA Finals after KD sustained a serious Achilles injury that ruled him out till 2020. Durant would end up leaving the Warriors to join the Nets and later confessed that the argument with Draymond was a big part of why he left the Warriors.

But it appears both players will now address the controversy. Bleacher Report revealed today that Draymond Green and Kevin Durant will have a sit-down interview and discuss their time as teammates, and even address their argument from the Clippers game. KD even said that fans will be hyped to see this interview, saying “this is gonna go crazy”.

The interview will air Wednesday, August 18th on Bleacher Report. Although Durant and Green have since squashed their beef, the two haven’t addressed their time as teammates in a long-form interview. So it will be interesting to hear from both players what their perspective was about the entire issue.
