Chet Holmgren was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He was a highly touted prospect due to his skill level, length, and versatility, and he will likely end up being a fantastic player in the league.

Recently, the terrible news of Chet Holmgren having a Lisfranc foot injury was revealed by Adrian Wojnarowski. It was noted that he would have to miss an entire year, something that is extremely unfortunate as he will have to wait a season to truly acclimate to the league.

Oklahoma City Thunder 7-footer Chet Holmgren will miss the 2022-2023 season with a Lisfranc injury to his right foot. Holmgren, the No. 2 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, suffered the injury in a Pro-Am game in Seattle on Saturday.

There have been some suggestions that Chet Holmgren’s injury was due to his skinny frame. However, Thunder GM Sam Presti dismissed such claims pointing out that the injury was “an impact injury” and that those suggestions are “not reality”.

Sam Presti on Chet’s skinny frame being a factor: “It’s an acute injury, it’s an impact injury. It’s a figment of the alternate reality of the Internet. But it’s not reality.”

Other words, no his frame had nothing to do with it.

We have seen a number of seven-footers with skinny frames succeed in the NBA, with the most notable player in that category being Kevin Durant. While foot injuries are generally a concern for big men, Chet Holmgren doesn’t have a lengthy injury history, and this Lisfranc injury could well be an aberration.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will likely be worse than initially projected due to Chet Holmgren being out for the whole season. However, they will still have some good players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and we’ll see how far they get next year.
