NBA players are often scrutinized by fans and analysts alike. Because of the highly public nature of their work, and the deep fan interest in the sport, basketball players have their numbers and stats put in focus for fans to see and assess how well or poorly they have been playing. But the NBA broadcast team at TNT made a really bizarre comparison during the Trail Blazers’ game against the Warriors.
During the game, undrafted two-way player Brandon Williams made his first NBA three-pointer. Moments after, the broadcast compared Williams’ career three-point, numbers with that of Stephen Curry’s, the greatest shooter of all time and the NBA’s all-time leading three-point shooter. It was a hilarious but highly unfair comparison that did not need to be made.

Williams has only been playing in the NBA since December when the Trail Blazers signed him from the G-League to help cover for their team due to the NBA’s COVID outbreak. He just recently signed a two-way contract with the Trail Blazers, thus effectively starting his NBA career.
As for Curry, he has been in the NBA for 13 years and has had a long time to shoot three-pointers in the league. On top of that, Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history, and so his numbers were always going to be great, so the comparison between the two players and their shooting numbers is really strange and quite unnecessary.
Curry and the Warriors ended up winning the game, as he put up a double-double. The Warriors are expected to be heavily involved in the championship mix this season. The way Curry has been playing this season, one would have to believe that he and the Warriors will be able to get through the west and potentially win the NBA championship this season.
