Trae Young Says He Wants To Bring The Championship To The City Of Atlanta

Trae Young has been on a tear this postseason, leading the 5th seed Atlanta Hawks through fire to the Eastern Conference Finals. They defeated the surprising New York Knicks in the first round, then went against the top-seeded Philadelphia 76ers, taking them out in seven games before landing in the last series before the Finals.

The 22-year-old is ready to lead his franchise to the promised land, and he won’t rest until he reaches his goal. Although the Hawks have been unlucky in the past two games of the ECF, Trae isn’t changing his mind.

Talking with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, the young guard reflected on his goals with the Hawks. More specifically, he said he won’t be satisfied until taking the Larry O’Brien trophy to Atlanta.

“[I’ll be satisfied when] we bring the city of Atlanta a championship,” Young stated.

In his first playoffs run, the player is already making a lot of noise. He doesn’t have the same attention that other young stars have, but Young isn’t bothered. He wants to win and make a statement every time he’s on the court, and so far, he’s done a great job.

Although he suffered an injury in Game 3 of the ECF, the 2018 No. 5 overall pick remains focused.

“It’s sore right now. It’s hurting. It’s frustrating,” Young said, via The Athletic. “Yeah, it’s hurting a little bit, and it’s sore. I got some treatment on it. I’m going to go get some more in the morning. That’s all I can do right now, is get treatment.

“When I came back in, it was kind of sore. It made me mad I couldn’t really go as fast as I wanted to, and when I did, it hurt. So I’ve just got to get treatment and hopefully get it better for the next game.”

The Hawks trail the Milwaukee Bucks 2-1 in the series. Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday, with Nate McMillan’s team hoping to bounce back, win the fourth game, and tie the series before returning to Milwaukee.
