  • Trinity Rodman was born in 2002 and didn’t see a lot of her father early on
  • The 21-year-old is a rising star for the Washington Spirit in the NWSL
  • Trinity Rodman and Dennis Rodman now share a better bond

Trinity Rodman had an honest take on Dennis Rodman and his influence on her in her younger days, and safe to say it wasn’t a lot of father-daughter time.

In an interview with ESPN, Trinity, now an NWSL player, spoke about how her Chicago Bulls superstar dad was seldom by her side.

“Growing up, people always thought that me and my dad had a close relationship and we never did. Living in Newport Beach, my dad was a little bit around but was still in the NBA party phase. He wasn’t in our lives and I was in my mom. And we were living separately. But we were still seeing him.”

This comes as a stark contrast to the assumptions that the world had about her “close bond” with Rodman.

Trinity was born in 2002, when Rodman was at the peak of his party prowess, and in the final stages of his illustrious NBA career. That meant a lot of time away from family, and Trinity was more often in the company of her mother than Rodman.

However, the same interview also saw her add that Rodman was a more active parent down the line in the future and she’s made her peace with it.

“When I saw my dad on the sideline. I don’t even know if there was a thought. In that moment, I remember thinking I was like, is the start? Like is his effort to start coming to more games? It was amazing to see him and hear him cheer me…I’ve gotten to a place where I’ve found peace with it.”

It looks like all is well with the father and daughter now, and Rodman has seemingly decided that he wants to make up for lost time.

Who Is Trinity Rodman?

For those unaware, Trinity Rodman is an American professional soccer player for the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States women’s national soccer team.

Born in 2002, the daughter of Dennis Rodman and Michelle Moyer was the youngest drafted player in the NWSL at 18 the forward excelled by winning the NWSL Rookie of the Year, and also making the NWSL Best XI, and U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year honors following her first season in 2021.

Trinity has played soccer since she was 10, and while many expected her to take up basketball and play in the WNBA in the future, she preferred soccer. The 21-year-old also has a strong social media presence boasting over 128,000 followers on Instagram.

Guess fame and being brilliant at sports runs in the family. And as for Dennis Rodman, there’s no doubt he’s proud of his daughter, who has achieved so much at a young age and is on a meteoric rise in her career.
