Tyronn Lue is once again an NBA head coach and he’ll have the not-so-easy task to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to the promised land after the Californians suffered an embarrassing loss against the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 2020 NBA playoffs. Lue is taking the reins of a team with a lot to prove after their huge fail in the bubble and the young coach will try to succeed next year.

During a virtual press conference, Lue addressed the most important points for the Clips ahead of the new season. He talked about his two stars, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, breaking down his plans to manage things with both players, trying to be as communicative as possible to improve the team’s chemistry and not suffer the same things they suffered last season. Lue said that the best player on your roster doesn’t have to be the leader every time.

Via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN:

“You can talk about our two players, Kawhi and PG, they lead by example … And you are not going to have the best players be the natural leaders at all times. It doesn’t happen like that. I think a lot of leadership has to come from me, has to come from Kawhi, PG, Lou and Pat Beverley. It’s going to be collective.”

He made it clear that he will learn from his players as well as they’re going to learn from him.

“I got to show them different ways of leadership and they got to show me different ways of leadership. I don’t know everything. They don’t know everything.”

Moreover, he talked about Kawhi Leonard’s infamous load management, revealing he was going to talk with the medical staff to see if Kawhi will have a load management program this season, too.

Tyronn Lue says he’ll have a talk with the performance staff and medical team on whether a load management program with Kawhi Leonard will be implemented next season. #Clippers

Lue is a young coach who won the 2016 championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers. His name has earned more respect since that moment and now he’s ready to lead a second franchise to its first-ever NBA championship. When the season starts, we’ll see how that goes. As for now, he has the support of his players and he’s open to talking with them as much as possible to understand each other the best way.
