Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue promised he would end practice for the day if he didn’t make both his free throws, and his players tried their hardest to make sure he missed.

The fact that he made the second one is quite impressive. His first attempt at it was blocked by a shirt, and he was heavily contested on both occasions, but still made it on the second attempt.

Lue shot a respectable 82.9% from the free-throw line during his NBA career, so it perhaps wasn’t too surprising that the 46-year-old made them both. The players were forced to go on a run after this, but they seemed happy enough to do so.

NBA Fans Reacted To The Viral Video

The video instantly went viral, as you might imagine. It was a fun segment and NBA fans reacted to it.

Clippers practice seems to be a lot of fun said one.

A fan lauded Lue for making the team seem so happy.

One hilariously said Shaquille O’Neal would have missed both even if the gym was empty.

A fan praised the players for running right away.

One thinks this showed great team spirit.

There was some talk of tension between Lue and his players after last season ended, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. This was a nice little bonding moment, and it was great to see the whole team get in on it.

Will 2023-24 Finally Be The Clippers’ Season?

Think back to around this time in 2019 and optimism was through the roof in Clipper land. They had just signed Kawhi Leonard in free agency and traded for Paul George to elevate themselves to title contender status.

It seemed like it was finally the Clippers’ time to get to the top, but the next four seasons only brought disappointment. They crumbled in the Bubble in 2020 after taking a 3-1 lead over the Denver Nuggets, and the following three seasons saw the injury bug pop up.

Either one or both of Leonard and George have missed time in the playoffs, and as a result, the Clippers have reached the Western Conference just once in this era that promised so much. Just this past season, they were without George in the first round against the Phoenix Suns, and then Leonard didn’t play after Game 2 of the series due to injury.

At this point, you really don’t have any reason to believe things will change for the better. You don’t get healthier as you age, and the chances of the two stars staying upright for the postseason seem rather slim.

On the odd chance that they do stay healthy, though, the Clippers could make some noise in the playoffs. It was only two games, but Leonard showed in them why he is one of the finest playoff performers around.

He averaged 34.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game and looked almost unstoppable at times. You wouldn’t write them off against anyone if he’s on the court, and they have to find a way to make sure he’s healthy when the playoffs come around.
