Without a doubt, Victor Wembanyama is one of the most hyped NBA prospects in recent history. The 2023 NBA Draft Lottery was one of the most anticipated in history, as teams were clamoring to get awarded the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The San Antonio Spurs ended up winning the lottery, but Wembanyama reveals that he knew that was going to happen.

In his first press conference as a San Antonio Spur, Victor Wembanyama revealed he has a video of himself on the day of the lottery where he predicted the San Antonio Spurs would get the first overall pick in the draft, and that was the team he was going to play for in the NBA.

“That video will come out someday. People will see it. It was just me basically saying I know… it wasn’t a feeling, it was a certainty. I just knew the Spurs were going to get the first pick and I was going to go to that franchise, that city. It was just a video of me recording, I just knew it. I told many people too, it was just a relief to see that I was right”.

Wembanyama clearly is happy to be in San Antonio, playing for a historic franchise like the Spurs. The Spurs have a history of drafting talented big men, and then winning an NBA championship with them. Tim Duncan and David Robinson are two other big men the Spurs drafted with the first overall pick.

Can Wembanyama Live Up To The Hype?

Victor Wembanyama has the chance to become one of the greatest players of all time if he is able to live up to expectations. With the physical assets and skillset Wemby has, he could be an all-time great player.

NBA fans recently debated whether Wembanyama can be an All-Star in his rookie season. Wembanyama would be the first player since Blake Griffin to be named an All-Star in his rookie year.

Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich recently joked about how excited he is to coach Wembanyama, claiming that he would do backflips out of excitement if he could avoid injury. The Spurs have a chance to begin a new dynasty if they can build Wembanyama properly.
