76ers coach Doc Rivers is widely regarded as one of the best in the business.  And when he came to Philly in 2020, it was seen as a step in the right direction for a franchise on the edge of title contention. Unfortunately, however, the 76ers have not had very much success under Doc — and while that’s not all on him, it seems likely that he’ll be the first one to go after Philadelphia’s latest playoff exit.

On Twitter, one viral video shows a defeated Doc and GM Daryl Morey connecting in the tunnel after the final buzzer, and many fans believe it could be one of Rivers’ last moments as coach of the team.

It’s impossible to tell what Rivers and Morey are thinking here, but the mood is understandably somber given the circumstances. As Doc heads to the locker room, the GM shakes his hand before gingerly touching his shoulder.

Whatever happens with Rivers, Daryl Morey will have his work cut out for him as the future of his team hangs in the balance.

Should The 76ers Move On From James Harden?

James Harden was the consultation prize for dealing with the Ben Simmons saga, but there’s a real chance he’s played his last game as a 76er. His scoring capabilities are still very strong, but his lack of consistency offensively has really been hurting the team, and there have been rumblings that James is considering a return to Houston anyway.

“The Rockets could look totally different in 2023-24 if you believe the persistent rumors surrounding James Harden’s return,” reported Rockets insider Ari Alexander of KPRC. “What I’ve heard in league circles is similar to what many Rockets fans are reading – that James Harden’s return is being treated as an inevitability. Harden has one year remaining on his deal with the Philadelphia 76ers but is expected to opt-out and either seek a new deal or sign with the Rockets.”

Both James Harden and Joel Embiid may not be Sixers for much longer, but it all starts with Doc. Before he does anything else, Morey will have to decide if Rivers is the guy to take this team over the top, and so far, the results have been less than ideal.
